Stronger Together

Atlantic Union and American National

To Customers of American National,

American National Bank and Trust Company and Atlantic Union Bank are two of the best banks based in Virginia, with a combined history of over 225 years of serving our customers and communities. And I want to make sure you saw the agreement we announced today to come together as one. Why?  Because when it comes to serving our stakeholders - our customers, employees, shareholders, and communities - we are both stronger together. Find the press release here.

Once combined, American National will operate as Atlantic Union Bank, but our commitment to our customers will remain the same. As we enter this new phase of our company’s evolution, we are fortunate to have found a partner who is not only aligned with us culturally, but with greater resources we can leverage in order to continue to meet the needs of our stakeholders. Atlantic Union is a strong Virginia-based bank, founded in 1902 and shares the same commitment to people and communities that has guided us for our 114 years.

The legal closing of the merger is anticipated in early 2024 and at this point, there is nothing you need to do differently – you can still visit the same American National branches, call the same people, and use the digital tools you use today. As we work behind the scenes to prepare for the transition, our teammates will continue to provide you with the same great service you’ve come to expect from American National.

We will be sure to communicate updates and helpful information as we work to combine our banks over the next several months. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions in the meantime.

I speak for everyone at American National in thanking you for allowing us to serve your banking needs and for being part of our bank’s amazing legacy and growth story. We look forward to continuing to serve you in this exciting new chapter.
