American National Announces Employee Changes in Franklin County

Danville, VA – American National Bank and Trust Company announced today the following employee changes in the Franklin County Region.

Robert W. Shorter has been named Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager at the bank’s Westlake Office. An alumnus of Radford University, he has more than 21 years of experience in financial services. He has held various roles in lending, retail and branch management. Most recently he served as Branch Administrator for Franklin Community Bank, which merged with American National on Jan. 1, 2015. Shorter is a recent graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia and will graduate from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University in 2015. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Liberty Heights Homeowners Association and the Burnt Chimney Elementary School PTO. He has served as past President and Treasurer of Support to Eliminate Poverty Inc. (STEP) and past Treasurer of the Franklin County Helping Hands.

Derwin L. Hall has been named Assistant Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager at the bank’s Rocky Mount Office. With more than 27 years of banking experience, Hall has served in several fields, including retail branch management, business development, commercial lending and credit. Most recently he served as Senior Credit Analyst with Franklin Community Bank, a division of American National. Hall is an alumnus of Emory & Henry College and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He is also a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia. Hall serves on the Planning Commission for the Town of Rocky Mount.

Julie D. David has been named a Commercial Relationship Manager at the bank’s Rocky Mount Office. David is an alumna of Radford University and a recent graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia. She has more than nine years of experience with Franklin Community Bank, a division of American National. Her most recent position was the Managing Officer at the bank’s Southlake Office. David serves as Treasurer for the Benjamin Franklin Middle School PTO and is an active participant with the Raymond David Memorial Cancer Fund.
