American National Announces Employee Changes

DANVILLE, VA – American National Bank and Trust Company (American National) is pleased to announce the following employee changes.



Ted Laws has been named Market President for the Danville Region. Laws joined American National from SunTrust Bank in 2012. With 17 years of banking experience, he has held positions as Chief Lending Officer, Commercial Relationship Manager, Retail Area Manager and Business Banking Team Lead. A North Carolina State University alumnus, Laws also holds an MBA from Duke University and completed Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.



Randy McDaniel has been named Senior Relationship Manager for the Danville Region. An Averett University alumnus, McDaniel joined American National in 1998 and has 24 years of banking experience. He graduated from the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management in 2002 and the Virginia Bankers Association Executive Leadership Program in 2012. McDaniel is also an alumnus of Leadership Southside.



Beverly Scruggs has been named Director of Business Development for the Danville Region. Scruggs joined American National in 1982, giving her 32 years of banking experience. Starting as a teller, she gained experience in branch management before moving into business development. An active salesperson, she was named Sales Employee of the Year by American National for 2013. In her new role, Scruggs will continue her interaction in the Danville community and work with the bank’s Danville area offices.



Amy Stallings has been named Vice President & Compliance Officer, and she will assume responsibility for managing American National’s Compliance Department. A Longwood College alumna, Stallings joined American National in 2005 as a Compliance Specialist. She earned an MBA from Liberty University in 2008, graduated from the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management in 2010, and attended the American Bankers Association National Compliance School in 2013 and the Intermediate Compliance School in 2014.



Adah Haley has been named Banking Associate & Deputy Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer. A Liberty University alumna, Haley joined American National in August 2007 as a teller and transferred to Compliance in July 2010. She has most recently concentrated on BSA and deposit compliance.



Stallings’ and Haley’s appointments are due in part to the upcoming year-end retirement of   Bett Penick, Vice President of the bank’s Compliance Department. In 2015, Penick will continue to work on a part-time basis to assist the bank. With more than 40 years of banking experience, Penick has worked in numerous areas of banking, including cash management, commercial operations, strategic planning and compliance. She joined American National in 2002 after working much of her career with Signet Bank/First Union.
