John Settle, Jr. joined American National in 2016 with over 30 years of experience guiding clients in growing, managing, protecting and transferring wealth.

Settle most recently served as senior vice president and senior fiduciary advisor at Wells Fargo, where he and his team helped families and businesses meet their financial goals. Previously, he served as managing director in the Private Wealth Management area of SunTrust. He currently serves on the Investment Committee of the Cameron Foundation. A graduate of the University of Richmond earning both a B.S. and M.B.A., he went on to graduate from the Southeastern Trust School and the Executive Leadership Institute at the Virginia Bankers Association.

Debra Creasy Carlson joined American National Bank and Trust Company in 2009 after practicing law in Danville for 18 years. Her current title is Senior Vice President & Senior Trust Officer.

 

Debra received both an associate degree in Liberal Arts and an associate degree in Business Administration in 1984 from Danville Community College. She then transferred to the College of William and Mary and received a B.A. in Government in 1986. Later she graduated from the Mississippi College School of Law in 1989 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) and from the University of Denver School of Law with an LL.M (Masters of Law in Taxation) in 1990. During her years of practicing law, her focus was on real estate and estate law. She has served as an adjunct professor at both Danville Community College and Averett University.

 

Debra has earned her Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) certification and is a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute’s Personal Trust School. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of South Central Virginia Inc. and the Danville Science Center and as a member of the Wednesday Club. She has served for many years as a member of and on the boards of numerous other local organizations. Debra is not affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services.

Jon Paul has been with American National since 2009 and has worked in the financial services industry since 2007. He is a native of Danville and attended Virginia Tech. He led the bank's conversion to Raymond James in 2011. He is series 7 and 66 licensed and also carries life and health insurance licenses.

William (Bill) Clingempeel has 30 years of investment experience and was most recently with BB&T in Roanoke, Va. He holds a B.S. and MBA in Finance from Virginia Tech and the following certifications:  CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CFP (Certified Financial Planner), ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant), and CFS (Certified Funds Specialist). Bill is an investment expert and experienced portfolio manager. He helps individuals and corporations alike in developing and maintaining a portfolio to meet individual investment goals. Gregory (Greg) Y. Ellington, a Burlington native, joined American National Bank and Trust Company in July 2016 after working with the investment firm of Edward D. Jones. Previously, he worked in reinsurance following a career as a pilot and 10 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of major. An alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Greg also obtained his MBA from Boston University. He resides in Burlington with his wife, Sonja, and their 7-year-old daughter, Kirsten. They are active members of St. Mark's Church.

Christopher W. Gibson joined American National Bank and Trust Company as part of the merger with Franklin Community Bank in Franklin County, Va., where he served as Financial Advisor with Infinex. An alumnus of Radford University, Christopher has more than 18 years of experience and has held positions at several financial institutions, including J.C. Bradford and BB&T. He also serves as a member of the Estate Planning Council at Ferrum College.

Teresa O. Maddox joined American National Bank and Trust Company in June 2005 and has 23 years of experience in the trust and trust tax area. She is currently serving as Assistant Vice President & Trust Officer.

Teresa is a 2008 graduate of Cannon Financial Institute's Personal Trust School. In addition, she completed Cannon's Personal Trust Graduate School in 2011 and has received additional training through attendance of various other seminars and classes. Teresa’s experience includes estate planning, trust and estate administration, and investments.

Lorrie Teegen joined American National Bank and Trust Company in January 2004 and has 37 years of experience in the trust field.

Lorrie is a 1987 graduate of the Cannon Trust School at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and the Advanced Administration of Estates and Trusts School. In addition, she has successfully completed the Cannon Personal Trust Graduate School and Trust Tax School. She has received additional training through Cannon Financial Institute and through attendance at seminars and classes sponsored by various organizations. Lorrie’s experience includes estate planning, trust and estate administration, and investments.

In addition to her professional career, Lorrie is involved in various community and professional activities. She is on the Board of Directors and is Treasurer for the Martinsville Cemetery Association. Lorrie is not affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services.

Ron Barner joined American National in 2017 with over 27 years of experience in trust and investment services.

Prior to joining American National, Ron worked for First Commonwealth Bank and S&T Bank. Ron received his B.A. in Finance from The American University in Washington, D.C. He earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1993 from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association. Ron completed the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's Central Atlantic School of Trust, as well as the ABA's Graduate Trust program and earned the Certified Trust Financial Adivsor (CTFA) designation in 2012 from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the ABA. 

In addition to his professional career, Ron is the immediate past president of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greensburg, PA. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Burlington. Ron is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Greensboro and the Winston-Salem Estate Planning Council. Ron is not affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services.

Luke Young joined American National Bank and Trust Company in February 2018 with 13 years of experience in trust services.

Prior to joining American National, Luke worked as an attorney for Reed Smith LLP and was a trust officer for Burke & Herbert Bank. Luke is a graduate of Georgetown University, Walsh School of Foreign Service, where he earned his B.S. in Foreign Service. He received his Juris Doctor from The Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University in 2005. He has also earned his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation and is a graduate of The Cannon Trust School.

In addition to his professional career, Luke is affiliated with the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia, a life-time member of the International Thespian Society and serves as a member of the Philodemic Debate Society of Georgetown.
