Digital Wallet FAQs

No. Your debit card numbers are not transmitted to merchants, nor are they stored on your device. Instead, a unique “token” is passed on to merchants using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

NFC is a short-range wireless technology that allows two devices to exchange information quickly, securely and conveniently at close proximity. NFC technology transmits tokenized payment card information from your phone to a contactless payment terminal without sending your actual card information. When shopping in-store, while holding your device in front of a contactless reader, the token information stored on the device transmits directly to that contactless reader.

Tokens replace your debit or credit card information (the 16-digit primary account number found on your card) with a randomly-generated value securely stored on Apple, Android and Samsung devices to make purchases. With a tokenized payment, your debit card numbers are not stored on the device, on Apple, Google or Samsung servers or with the merchant. This helps to reduce the potential for fraud.

By using tokens, mobile wallets prevent your debit card information from being exposed when making purchases. Therefore, tokens reduce the risk of your card or payment data being stored or compromised. With a mobile wallet, only a transaction-specific token is passed on and your card information is never shared with the merchant.

Please contact AMNB as soon as possible. We will replace your card and help you remove your payment card from your mobile wallet. Once you receive your new replacement card, you will need to add it to your digital wallet.

If your device is lost or stolen, please call AMNB so we can quickly suspend or remove your payment cards from your digital wallet from the lost or stolen device. However, you can continue to use your physical debit card. If you replace your device, you will need to add your AMNB Debit Cards to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay on your new device.

Transactions made through your mobile wallets will appear as other debit card purchases do on your statements today.

Receipts for purchases made with digital wallets may display the last four digits of your token. These numbers are, however, different from the last four digits of your debit card number.
